Its centrefolds of nude and semi-nude models were a cultural phenomenon, and the magazine even ended up playing an important role in a sort of a sexual revolution in the US. The famous TV host and author was featured on the cover of Playboy in 1993 and was apparently given a check of $20,000 for the same. That’s a big paycheck for someone who was making a living by working as a cook in a South-side Chicago deli.
She didn’t go nude on the cover of Playboy, but she did manage to get a great start to her modelling career. But it was only in 2007 that her prospects received a massive boost after her infamous sex tape was leaked out into the open.

1992 was when Anna Nicole Smith made the cover of Playboy, and in the following year, she was declared ‘Playmate of the Year.’ The controversial celebrity went on to act in several films and TV shows before her untimely death occurred in 2007.
Now we couldn’t have missed out Pamela Anderson, could we? Perhaps the most famous Playboy model of all time, Pamela made her Playboy cover debut in 1989, and went on to appear on many more issues after that. She bagged a role in Baywatch, and the rest is history.
1993 was the year that saw Carmen Electra appearing on the cover of Playboy with only a guitar covering her nude body. Her career path was similar to that of Pamela’s, even as she immediately bagged a role in Baywatch following her Playboy stint. She would get featured in the magazine a number of times since.
Kelly Monaco’s centrefold was enough to get the model a role in Baywatch. However, unlike the others who made this switch, Kelly made her first Playboy appearance on the Mexican version of the magazine.
Kendra was never an official Playboy Playmate, but she did appear in three nude pictorials in the magazine. She was one of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends, and hence a prominent part of the E! reality television series The Girls Next Door.
1988 was when Cindy Crawford landed on the cover of Playboy, and by that time, she was already a pretty famous model. She was quick to bag a hosting job at MTV’s House of Sty and she also went on to appear in several music videos. Her latest appearance came in the Netflix TV show, Bojack Horseman.
She graced the cover of Playboy in 1989 and was quick to land roles in Charles in Charge as well as Baywatch. Her film career has gone pretty steady since then. Her roles in The Blob, Under Siege and The Beverly Hillbillies remain some of her most prominent.
